Membership in INTECOL provides notification of major ecological meetings around the world, including meetings organised by the Association, and other news of ecological activities contained in the INTECOL Newsletter. A chief benefit of membership is a discounted conference fee for the International Congresses of Ecology. In the past, this discount has often been greater than the membership fee aggregated over several of the intervening years between congresses.

However, in 2004 and 2005, as we move to a purely electronic system of communicating with our members, membership will be free to all those ecologists who register through the web site. This is intended to allow us to improve our records and to increase our membership. It will also allow us to communicate much more readily with our members, and will allow members to communicate easily with one another through the members' forum.
