The widely respected ecological journal Oecologia, now having reached volume 138,
has been published by Springer in cooperation with INTECOL from its inception.
This journal publishes ecological research of international interest currently
focusing on the following areas: ecophysiology, population ecology, plant-animal
interactions, ecosytem ecology, community ecology, global change and conservation
ecology and behavioural ecology. The current editors in chief are Roland Brandl,
James R. Ehleringer, Christian Korner, and Craig W. Osenberg.
They are supported by an editorial board of over 70 ecologists drawn from over
15 countries.
From time to time INTECOL has published the occasional periodical Ecology
International, and the Board of INTECOL are considering whether to re-launch
this as a regular periodical, perhaps as an electronic journal.
Views about this from the membership would be appreciated.
Symposia from
the International Congresses of Ecology have also been published on many occasions,
most recently from the VIII Congress in Seoul as a special issue of Ecological
Research Volume 19, 2004. In addition, the proceedings of the VII Congress in Florence, entitled,
'Perspectives in Ecology. A Glance from the VII International Congress of Ecology'
by A. Farina (ed.) was published by Backhuys Publishers,
Neiden, NL, and another proceedings from the VIII
International Congress of Ecology is under publication by
Kluwer Publishers.
